Embed Customer Interviews Directly Into Your Website or App
You can now embed a Frank interview as an inline card inside your page, as a pop-up opened from your own button, or as the floating button you already know — with CTA text you write yourself!
Also in this release:
- A public API with keys you create and revoke
- Webhooks that fire the moment an interview completes
- Restyled study creation flow
Interview Users Automatically. Directly in your Website/App.
A customer is only briefly willing to tell you why. Right after they cancel. Right after onboarding finally clicks. Right after the third visit to your pricing page in a week.
A fixed, floating button in the corner of every page can't catch any of that. It asks everyone the same thing at the same non-moment, and mostly gets scrolled past…
An emailed survey or interview can’t do it either. It’s too late, the moment passed, and you won’t get any of the emotion your user experienced in the moment.
But now, Frank let’s you choose where the interview lives.
Three mount modes: the floating button you already have, an inline card rendered directly into your page, or a pop-up dialog opened from your own button or link. And the CTA text is yours to write.
What to do with it
Inline cards sit inside the page. Rendered directly into your layout, so you can put an interview at the bottom of a cancellation flow or on the screen someone lands on after finishing setup. It reads as part of your product rather than a third-party widget hovering in the corner.
Pop-ups open from your own button. Keep your design and your copy, and point an existing button or link at the interview. The ask arrives as a considered invitation instead of an interruption — and you decide what has to happen before it shows up.
Write the CTA yourself. "Tell us why you're leaving" and "Got 5 minutes to help us improve?" get very different response rates out of the same audience. Configurable from the embed settings, so you can try one and then the other.
Keep the floating button for the always-on ask. It hasn't gone anywhere, and it's still the right choice for a standing invitation on every page. Use the new modes where you want to catch a specific moment, and leave the button up for everything else.
Getting started
- Open your research project and click "Add to your site/app".
- Choose your mount mode — floating button, inline card, or pop-up — and write your CTA text.
- Add the embed to your site by copy-pasting the code.
Full setup steps are in the knowledge base.
A Public API and Webhooks
The other half of this release is for whoever looks after your stack.
You can now create and revoke your own API keys from Settings, so you can integrate Frank into whatever flow you want. And the new Get interview endpoint returns an interview together with its transcript.
There's also a Webhooks screen in Settings for a single account-wide webhook that notifies your server the moment an interview completes.
Together those two are the useful part. An interview finishes, the webhook hits your server, your server pulls the transcript, and it lands wherever you keep the rest of your customer data — your warehouse, your CRM, a Slack channel for churn interviews. Nobody has to log into Frank for any of it.
Check out the API docs here.
Also in this release
- Fixed: Action Items showing no data in some cases, and Action Items missing their date and time.
- Fixed: interviews that couldn't be exported or downloaded.
- Fixed: a style mismatch on the interview schedule screen on mobile.
Frank runs your customer interviews so you can get back to building.
This release is about getting out of your way while it does — the interview sits inside your product looking like it belongs there, and the results turn up in your own systems without anyone going to fetch them.
